HIPSid v1.00 by Psycho Hacking Force : released 8th July 2017 ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to HIPSid, short for Hippel-SID, a journey into the Sid-i-Fication of Atari ST YM chip music. It all started way back when Tao of ACF and later Cream sent us his SID routines. This was at a time when we were in regular contact with him as he composed the Ultimate Muzak Demo 8730 21 minute intro music. At that point he had already Sid-i-Fied the B.I.G. demo Rob Hubbard C64 musics. Grazey sat on these routines for years, then recently he thought about adding SID voices to other Jochen Hippel (aka Mad Max) tunes. Jochen had already improved his editor to use SID voices with a batch of tunes released in 1999 (1, 2, AJH 99 and Virtual Escape end theme). However there was still a plethora of classic Mad Max tunes which had missed out on the SID treatment. We nearly said enhancement but we know many will prefer the raw originals. Each to their own! So here in this demo is basically all Mad Max tunes since the B.I.G. demo with the exception of digi drum tunes (LX, WOD, Turrican 1/2, Beat Nick, APT, OCWAS Ghost Battle, Ninja Remix, Chambers of Shaolin digi and Gigatex). An initial version of HIPSid was demonstrated at the Outline party in Holland in which we had the pleasure of winning the competion. However that version had bugs which we wanted to iron out, plus we've added extra features! It really should not have been spread! Specifications -------------- Works on any ST with at least 1mb of RAM. Note: We could have made it 520 compatible, but this would have dictated constant floppy loading. The data could also have been stripped from the music driver, but we're too lazy in these modern times. Enhanced for STe, Mega STe and Falcon.
